There are fleeting moment in life where the loss of a loved one from this world hits you. The greatest way for me to celebrate that life is by doing something they did, or you learned from them.

For me, the way to connect with my late mother is through cooking. I would sit in the kitchen and watch her cook and bake for our neighbors, family and friends. The smell of fresh baked cinnamon bread still swirls around in my memory.

Timeout! Attempting to actually enhance the overall feel of my own blog. Insights concerning the nice design at http://meritconcrete.ca? Truthfully an amazing Edmonton based mudjacking service if needed inside the Alberta region. Write a comment. Appreciate it!

One of my mothers classic desserts, that was not only made but requested by those she knew was called a Trifle. It is a mix of homemade whipped cream, berries and vanilla cake. It was my sisters birthday, so I figured why not bring my moms memory into a celebration of my sisters life. Seeing the my sister is primarily gluten free I put my own little spin on it. RECIPE BELOW:

Gluten Free Trifle w/ Homemade Whipped Cream, Strawberries and Blueberries. Photo courtesy ofCourtney Jade

1 box of gluten free cake mix.

2 Tablespoons of Vanilla (dont use the imitation crap, Blech!)

-Follow the directions of the cake mix. Its much cheaper and economical to buy a cake mix then to concoct your own. Bake the cake per recommendations. Let cool. Cut cake in pan into 1 squares.

(Have you ever noticed with gluten free items they sometimes - well most times - come out dry and gritty, well my secret is to add 1 1/2 to 2 times the amount of liquid in the cake. This will create a lighter, fluffier less dense cake. People who aren't gluten free won't even know the difference)

Homemade Whipped Cream

2 cups of whipping cream

2 tablespoons of vanilla

2 tablespoons of sugar (or more if you like it sweeter..I prefer just a touch of sweetness)

For the berries you can choose anything, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, etc.

I chose to go with 3 cups of strawberries and 2 cups of blueberries.

VERY IMPORTANT: Wash the fruit, get all that residue off.

I cut the tops off the strawberries, then cut them in 4 or 5 pieces. Once you are done cutting the strawberries through them in a bowl, coat with a teaspoon of sugar the juices will react and create just a touch of sweetness.

Layering the jars

Take a mason jar, add a dollop of whipped cream at the bottom. Take 7 to 8 of your 1 pieces of cake and layer in the bottom. (You may have to cut, or tear these in half)

Put a generous layer of whipped cream over the cake. Add a handful of strawberries, a handful of blueberries and another layer of whipped cream. Repeat this process one more time, and throw a few blueberries on top.

Seal these bad boys. Put them in the fridge and take them to a picnic, dinner, lunch or day trip.

Thx everyone! I actually texted my relative I can note this peerless cedar fence hardware supplier in Langley BCs, http://5starfencesupply.ca using an important piece. Any time you were looking to get a fence and deck supplier inside the general British Columbia area, these folks have been incredible.

Now, I will express the initial thought for this charming content was graciously given through Brittin with quakes baseball. They certainly are an amazing baseball camps. I really treasure a wonderful suggestion!
