What’s New: Hip trug for the garden

Lee Valley’s take on a hip trug for the garden lets you work hands free.

What’s a trug, you might ask? (I did.) It’s typically a shallow oblong basket made of strips of wood, traditionally used for carrying garden flowers and produce.

Lee Valley’s version is a modern update on the old idea. Called a Hip Trug, it sits snugly in a neoprene holster that you clip to a belt or pocket.

Contoured for a close and comfortable fit, Lee Valley says it will stay put even when you kneel or crouch, making it convenient for harvesting, deadheading or weeding.

It slides out of the holster for emptying and cleans up easily after messy jobs.

The 15-centimetre tall container holds three litres and sells for $29.50.
