Ottawa Clay Festival

May 3-5 — More than 30 local artisans showcase handcrafted ceramics at the Horticultural Building at Lansdowne Park. Find functional pottery, sculptural and decorative pieces, meet the people who make them and see demonstrations. There’s also a kids’ clay area. Details.

Household hazardous waste depot

May 4 — The City of Ottawa holds another one-day waste depot for household hazardous waste. It takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rideau Carleton Casino, 4837 Albion Rd. Keep household hazardous items out of landfill by taking part. For details on the program, see our article.

Ottawa Tool Library garage sale

May 4 — The Ottawa Tool Library is a lending library offering a range of household tools. Join them for their garage sale and find some great deals. All tools have been tested to make sure work. Runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Details.

Art show

May 5 — BEING Studio holds the Petalpalooza art show and market to “get out of the winter blues.” The free event features more than 60 local artists with disabilities who offer paintings, prints, sweatshirts, tote bags, brooches and more. Details.

Ottawa Tiny Home Show

May 10-12 — Tiny homes, bunkies, cabins and trailers are the stars of this show, where you can tour the homes, gather research and get questions answered by exhibitors and expert speakers. Details.

Plant sale

May 11 — The Gloucester Horticultural Society holds its annual plant sale, offering native plants and shrubs, perennials, annuals, herbs and vegetable seedlings. There will also be a garage sale of garden-related items and a master gardener on site to answer questions. Details.

ByWard Market outdoor season

May 11 — The outdoor season at the heritage ByWard Market begins, featuring an array of artisanal goods that includes home décor. The season runs until October. Details.

Seedling Saturday

May 11 — The Just Food Community Farm holds a seedling Saturday, where you can pick up local seeds and seedlings to get in the ground at the end of May. Exchange your own seeds, get expert advice, enjoy live music and food, and more. Details.

Repair Café

May 11 — Keep your household items out of the landfill by visiting a Repair Café, several of which are scheduled over this year, with the next being May 11. These events are free and will feature volunteer fixers and menders from Ottawa Tool Library who will help repair items like electronics, textiles, small appliances, jewelry and more. Details.

Art in the Attic

May 11-12 — The Almonte & Area Artists Association presents the 2024 Art in the Attic show and sale just in time for Mother’s Day. Local artists of all ages show off their works in the historic Old Almonte Town Hall. Admission is free. Details.

Orléans Blooms

May 12 — The Kin Club of Orléans holds a garden sale and event, offering plants supplied by the event’s sponsor, Ritchie Feed and Seed. You can also get gardening advice from seasoned gardeners, meet local suppliers and see local artists showing off their work. There will also be a fun educational corner for kids who want to get started in gardening. Details.

Great Glebe Garage Sale

May 25 — It’s back! The Great Glebe Garage Sale returns for another year, bringing thousands to the Glebe for a massive one-day garage sale by Glebe residents. Area merchants also take part with many holding a huge sidewalk sale. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and donations to the Ottawa Food Bank are encouraged. Details.

Household hazardous waste depot

June 1 — The City of Ottawa holds another one-day waste depot for household hazardous waste. It takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Trail Road Waste Facility, 4475 Trail Rd. Keep household hazardous items out of landfill by taking part. For details on the program, see our article.

Adaptive Living Expo

June 1 — Discover the latest innovations in adaptive technologies, assistive, accessible products, and supportive lifestyle and homes at the Adaptive Living Expo. It features more than 40 exhibitors, interactive workshops, presentations, resources and more. Admission is free. Details.

Red Trillium Studio and Garden Tour

June 1-2 — Take a self-guided tour through West Carleton discovering the paintings, photography, pottery, stone sculpture, forged iron, woodturning, beautiful gardens, and more, including Kin Vineyards. Details.

Art in the Park

June 8-9 — More than 150 artists showcase their work in a park setting, with painters, photographers, collage artists, sculptors, potters, clothiers, jewelry makers and more at Central Park on Clemow Avenue. Free admission. Details.

Art show

June 22-23 — The Sweetly Affordable Art Fair is an outdoor exhibition with 100-plus booths filled with artists and artisans, with most pieces under $1,000 and many pieces under $50. Details.
