Canada Day 2025: Showing your pride

Canada Day is fast approaching and with everything that has been happening over the last few months, we as a nation are even more excited to celebrate who we are and what our country stands for.

Canadians all across our beautiful land will be celebrating July 1 with parades, outdoor concerts, barbecues, fireworks, festivals, flag displays and, of course, wearing red and white.

I thought I would share some easy ways to show your love for Canada at home with some patriotic decorating ideas.

Outdoor decor

Have some fun with your July 1 celebration decor. Red and white balloons, signs, large flags, Muskoka chairs and Canadian cushions can really help set the scene.

And plan to end your evening with friends around your fire pit. Don’t have one? No problem. A creative solution is to group some lanterns together and gather around them to enjoy the evening.

Going for a swim?

If you’re heading to the cottage or taking a dip in the pool, grab some Canadian motif towels or floaties.

Lights

Use string lights, pathway lights and lanterns to create a festive atmosphere, especially during evening celebrations.

Table decorations

Use red and white tablecloths, napkins and flag accents for your table.  Have some fun creating your Canadian table.

Don’t forget to use red and white flowers for centrepieces, too!

Music

There is nothing better than listening to our great, talented Canadian musicians. They sure lend a true Canadian vibe to your patriotic get together.

Food

Of course, food is a big part of any celebration, and Canada Day is no exception.

I love that we can enjoy true Canadian classic foods while introducing our vast cultural cuisine to really have an enjoyable meal that represents who we are.

Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue or decorating your home or cottage, I hope that these ideas will inspire you to enjoy this year’s Canada Day festivities.

One more thing…

Want to stretch that patriotic feeling beyond Canada Day and throughout the year?

Here are a few easy ideas:

  • Get a red throw. You can use it all year long.
  • A couple of red cushions will add some energy to your space. Why not pair them with a white throw?
  • Red and white flowers in a vase anytime will evoke pride in our country.
  • Red Muskoka chairs look great all year round and will come in handy any season.
  • Why not find some Canadian art that you can enjoy?

Happy Canada Day!
