Garden whimsy: Having fun with your outdoor spaces

Let’s have some fun with garden whimsy. The long days of summer are here and we want to enjoy every second of them. If you are like me, you love to spend every moment outside. In the last few years, I have really enjoyed adding whimsical, unique pieces to my garden and outdoor spaces.

Unleash your creativity and search for objects tucked away in your garage or basement. You might be very surprised at what you find!

I’ve gathered an array of photos from homeowners who, in their own creative way, have added fun, colour and whimsy to their gardens. I hope they inspire you to do the same. The season has just started so you have lots of time to add a whimsical touch to your garden.

Garden tool organizer

I’ve had this beautiful antique farmhouse door for over 20 years. I’ve had lots of different ideas over the years but didn’t do anything with it until now.

I was in my garage moving the door out of the way and took another look at it. At my previous house, I had a shed on which I had hung all sorts of great garden stuff. Sadly, I don’t have that opportunity at this house. Or at least I didn’t think I did!

I decided to use the door as my garden tool organizer. Follow along to see the fun I had bringing this idea to life:

I love it! It looks great and is functional as well. I know where all my garden tools are at a glance.

Faces are all the rage

So many different sizes and facial expressions are popping up in plant pots and garden decor. Why not select one that makes you smile and add it to your garden or fence?

Create your own garden chair

I found this character-filled, vintage wooden chair at the end of someone’s driveway and I knew exactly what I was going to do with it.

The patina of the chair was rustic, inspiring the vision for the chair. I grabbed a bag of moss, some glue, two panels of river rocks from the dollar store and the fun began. I added a planter for a special touch.
