Part of the Rideau Canal system, Smiths Falls is a town of just over 9,000 people located about 80 kilometres southwest of downtown Ottawa. A regional hub in rural Eastern Ontario, Smiths Falls boasts a healthy mix of old and newer homes and many services, such as educational options, retail, commercial, recreation, a hospital, an airport and train service. Perhaps best known for the Hershey factory that was later replaced by a medical marijuana producer, Hershey confirmed in 2023 that it was returning.
