Summary
Canevas is a $1.3-billion project to transform the long-neglected Place Cartier mall into a “village in the city” with a mix of apartment building residential, commercial, retail and community space. Set over 17 acres, it will eventually see more than 2,500 residential units and include an outdoor plaza and a treed bike path among the 60 per cent of the property to be devoted to outdoor space.
The first building to lease is six storeys and 146 units. Suites include stainless-steel kitchen appliances, in-suite laundry, window roller shades, stone counters, engineered flooring and high-end fixtures.
The building includes an on-site community manager, storage lockers, visitor parking, security cameras and intercom system, key fob access, secure bicycle storage and a postal outlet.

What’s in the community
Located on the north side of the Ottawa River across from Ottawa, Gatineau is Québec’s fourth largest city with a population of 291,041. Prior to European settlement, the area was inhabited by Anishinaabe peoples including the Algonquins. The current city of Gatineau is centred on an area formerly known as Hull.
The city is a culturally diverse one and home to several federal government offices as well as major attractions such as the Canadian Museum of History and the Casino du Lac-Leamy. Many working people, especially federal government employees, live in Gatineau and commute to Ottawa and vice-versa.
