Urbacity Design-Build and the 2021 Reno Tour

Urbacity Design-Build has a two-storey addition and renovation to showcase on the 2021 Reno Tour.

A newcomer to Ottawa’s renovation industry, Urbacity shows how the addition accommodates a roomy kitchen on the main floor and the master suite upstairs while offering an abundance of natural light and large entertaining areas.

The Reno Tour is presented by the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association and showcases renovation projects by members of RenoMark (a program where participating companies are pre-screened and must meet strict guidelines).

The virtual tour offers interactive 3D walk-throughs that let you explore each project at your own pace and includes descriptions of each of the projects, many augmented with details such as before-and-after photos, intro videos and other multimedia labels.

Here’s more info on Urbacity and its project (edited for clarity).

Q: Why choose this project for the tour?

A: We chose this project for the 2021 Reno Tour because we believe this project is one that can be universally enjoyed. The abundance of natural light and open-concept entertaining areas are a great representation of the type of work we love to deliver to our clients. The high-level finishes are a true reflection of the skill set of our on-site staff.

Q: Tell us a bit about this project.

A: The house is a two-storey detached home. We extended at the rear, adding a two-storey addition to accommodate the large kitchen on the main floor and master suite.

In the kitchen, there’s a large walk-in pantry to maximize storage, the kitchen opens to the backyard though a large sliding door and high-end appliances are complemented by the eye-catching quartz on the island. There is also a coffee bar with bar fridge outside the kitchen for entertaining.

The new master is in the addition with a large walk-in closet and two-sided fireplace that links the bedroom with the ensuite.

This project started at the beginning of 2020. The biggest challenge was COVID-19 and the impacts it had across the industry. From limiting the number of workers on site to supply delays and the unknown of what the next days or weeks would bring, this project is a testament to teamwork and planning in an ever-changing time.

Q: What should visitors watch out for when they tour the project?

A: We hope they see the level of finishing details. We take great pride in making sure every detail is to the highest level of quality.

Q: Will you be adding any extra details, such as pop-up info on materials used or being able to see before shots from the same angle?

A: We will include some before photos.

Q: Tell us a bit about your company.

A: The company was founded in 2020. We were a group of like-minded individuals who were experts in our field and who saw an opportunity to come together to serve clients better.

We are a full-service design/build firm. We have both interior and architectural designers, in house, ready to help you create the space you envisioned. Our site staff is second to none.
