Half Moon Bay is a development of townhomes, stacked townhomes and single-family homes in a planned community in Barrhaven by Mattamy Homes. Under construction since 2007, Half Moon Bay will eventually see about 4,500 homes on 600 acres. The current section being developed is referred to as Half Moon Bay West.
There are four Half Moon Bay model homes to visit, all two-storey singles and all recently remodelled for a fresh, updated look. Here’s what you’ll see when you visit the Half Moon Bay models.
A single-family home on a 30-foot lot, the Wildflower is an easy step up to a single from a townhome. And with a corner entry, the home feels wider, while allowing for an office at the front off the foyer.
The home is one of Mattamy’s largest 30-foot homes with 1,948 sq. ft., three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The layout is open concept with the unusual move of putting the powder room at the back of the home, off the kitchen and near the back door.
Upstairs, a loft offers a family room space and study area with built-in desk and the laundry room includes a handy and large linen closet.
The Valleyfield is a single-family home on a 36-foot lot with 2,417 sq. ft. The four-bedroom, 2.5-bedroom home offers a neutral main floor with a coastal/farmhouse vibe that provides some separation between the dining room/den area and the living room and kitchen. And there’s a recurring them of curves, starting with the circular front porch.
Upstairs, there are unexpected features, such as built-in shelving in the boy’s room and a window seat in the girl’s room. Along with the four bedrooms, there is a roomy loft at the front of the home.
The Parkside is a single-family home with 2,669 sq. ft. on a 36-foot lot. The four-bedroom home features warm earth tones — with generous helpings of black — and clean lines. Main-floor features include a dedicated and organized mudroom with its own walk-in closet, a den, and tray ceiling details.
Upstairs, there’s a roomy loft, an inviting master retreat and walk-in closets in all bedrooms.
The Westlynn is a single-family home on a 43-foot lot. It has 2,907 sq. ft., four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
Outfitted in a transitional style, it features earthy neutrals with grey undertones, formal spaces up front and more informal living at the rear. The front room off the foyer is labelled as a living room, but in the model is done as an office.
This home has no second-floor loft, but there is a niche area at the top of the stairs that could be a convenient workspace and one bedroom is large enough to be used as a second-floor family room. The master suite also boasts a double-door entry, and a huge walk-in closet with built-ins and a window.
