River’s Edge model homes

River’s Edge is a development of singles, bungalows, semis and towns, from Claridge Homes in Riverside South.

There are 11 new models to see, five single-family homes and six townhome models, including three award winners. Here’s a look at the River’s Edge model homes.

Townhomes

Birkdale 3

The Birkdale comes as either a three-bedroom or four-bedroom townhome. In the case of the model, it’s the three-bedroom with a generous family room on the second floor. The home is also a corner unit with a double-car garage, giving it many of the options of a single but with a townhome price.

At 2,255 sq. ft., it’s one of Claridge’s largest townhomes.

Woodhall

The Woodhall is a mid-sized townhome with 2,180 sq. ft. and three bedrooms. It has an open-concept main floor with a walk-in pantry in the kitchen and a split staircase — the one to the second floor is at the end of the foyer and the one to the basement is along the back of the home, under the living room window, which provides natural light to the lower level.

The second floor includes a full laundry room, along with the bedrooms and main bath.

Lytham

The Lytham is Claridge’s smallest townhome at 1,635 sq. ft. The model is also shown without upgrades to give buyers a sense of what you can get without having to spend extra.

The living room, dining room and kitchen are open concept, with the U-shaped kitchen providing a breakfast bar peninsula that offers some separation from the living room.

Sussex

The Sussex is a double award-winner at last fall’s Housing Design Awards, capturing a trophy for the overall home and a second for the kitchen. It’s also one of Claridge’s most popular floor plans.

It comes with 1,835 sq. ft, three bedrooms and an open-concept main living area with both a dining room and a breakfast nook.

Wentworth

The Wentworth is another award-winner and is available as either an interior or end unit with three or four bedrooms (the model shows a three-bedroom interior unit).

It’s one of the larger townhome floor plans, with 2,105 sq. ft., has a cathedral ceiling in the living room and a dining room separated somewhat by having the staircase between it and the living room.

Wrexham

The final townhome model is the Wrexham, an end unit that’s Claridge’s largest townhome floor plan. It comes with 2,340 sq. ft., a main-floor office and an open-concept living room, dining room and kitchen.

Upstairs there’s a walk-in laundry room and a generous primary suite, along with two secondary bedrooms.

Singles

Portmarnock

This two-storey single comes with four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and doubles as the sales centre. At 3,000 sq. ft., it’s one of Claridge’s larger homes and the model is designed in soft neutrals.

A distinguishing feature is the two-sided fireplace between the dining room and living room. Also on the main floor is an office with double doors and a combined mud room and laundry room.

Dooks

Dark and moody, the Dooks two-storey single emphasizes entertaining. The open-concept kitchen, living room and dining room is separated by only the built-in bar station.

The living room boasts a two-storey ceiling, there’s a main-floor office with double doors and the home has four bedrooms.

Shinnecock Hills

This award-winning single offers four bedrooms and 2,489 sq. ft. on a 31-foot lot. There’s no main-floor office in this home, but the layout offers privacy from the foyer to the main living space, which is an open concept. Wood kitchen cabinets, wall moulding in the living room and window bench seating in the dining room add warmth.

A double-door entry into the primary suite adds a sense of grandness, as does the elongated walk-in closet with window. A second bedroom also offers a walk-in closet.

Carne

This two-storey single is shown without upgrades added so buyers can see how good the homes can look without having to spend extra. The Carne is a four-bedroom home with 2,385 sq. ft. on a 37-foot lot.

The main floor has an open-concept kitchen, dining room and living room for easy entertaining and there’s a separate office. There’s also a two-storey ceiling in the foyer stairwell for a sense of volume.

Cork

Rich green infuses this two-storey single, which has four bedrooms and 2,395 sq. ft. The main floor is open concept and designed primarily in textured neutrals, with green popping up in the office, some of the kitchen cabinets and in the primary ensuite.

There’s an option to finish the basement (done in the model) with either a rec room or a rec room, bedroom and bathroom.
