In an example of efficiency and flexibility, Minto has opened half a dozen townhome models that are centrally located in Kanata to service multiple developments and that showcase a range of living options to meet the needs of multiple buyer types.
From small-family living to multi-generational options with up to five bedrooms — and a corner model that can include a sixth, main-floor guest suite — the models represent the latest offerings in two-storey executive townhomes by Minto.
“(They) highlight a strong balance of space, design and value,” says marketing manager Philip Sharp. “Together, they offer a range of layouts that appeal to different buyers’ needs and lifestyles.”
The homes were opened in June to help buyers in all of Minto’s western communities: Parkside at Arcadia in Kanata; Brookline in Kanata North; Abbott’s Run in Stittsville; and Weavers Way in Almonte.
And it’s the first time a model of any of these floor plans has been built for the public to tour, Sharp says. “We’ve been receiving strong, positive reactions from visitors (who are) appreciating the different variety of finishes and layouts that are showcased.”
The homes range from the three-bedroom Ashbury with 1,871 square feet (including the finished basement) to the Wynwood Corner with a whopping 2,300 square feet, six bedrooms and four bathrooms. All six models showcase designer-decorated finishes, an optional finished basement and a second-floor laundry.
Here’s a snapshot of each of the models:
Ashbury
1,871 sq. ft. (1,451 without the basement)
3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms

As the smallest of the models, the Ashbury would easily suit first-time buyers, a young family or downsizers. It’s mostly finished with standard (or included) features and finishes, with a minimum of upgrades. The floor plan has an option for a fourth bedroom downstairs as well as another full bathroom, but the model shows just the optional rec room.
Done in soft, warm neutrals, “its vision is rooted in simplicity, clean lines, timeless style and a bright, airy atmosphere,” Sharp says.
Cohen
1,900 sq. ft. (1,444 without the basement)
3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

Although the Cohen is the smallest of the models when the basement is not finished, in this case the basement rec room and bathroom are shown, bumping up the square footage. There is also an option to add a fourth bedroom in the basement.
The home offers a blend of natural tones and “creative accents” for a home with character, Sharp says. “Its vision embraces earthy tones layered with subtle pops of colour, creating a playful yet grounded atmosphere.”
Eagleridge
1,907 sq. ft. (1,487 without the basement)
3 bedrooms; 2.5 bathrooms

An unexpected main-floor layout adds variety in this home, with the kitchen wrapping around the back corner and the living room and dining room stretching down the other side. Sharp says the home is envisioned as a light and airy contemporary home “rooted in natural warmth. The colour palette leans into soft neutrals and light woods, with warm tones that carry subtle brown undertones — echoed beautifully in the kitchen backsplash. Pops of gold and deep red add depth while keeping the overall feel clean, calm and timeless.”
Once again, the floor plan has an option for a basement bedroom and full bathroom but Minto has opted to show just the rec room in the model.
Montgomery
1,955 sq. ft. (1,535 without the basement)
5 bedrooms; 3.5 bathrooms

Boasting a darker, edgier look, this home has a bit more of a contemporary vibe. “The Montgomery design uses a rich, layered palette of deep neutrals, warm wood tones and subtle metallic accents to create a sophisticated, moody interior that showcases the versatility of design centre selections,” Sharp says.
The home is an example of Minto’s recent shift to interior townhome layouts that can accommodate four bedrooms upstairs, creating flexibility for families seeking more affordable housing options. With the fifth bedroom downstairs and a long kitchen island, the Montgomery feels like a home that can meet the needs of a larger family — and one that likes to entertain.
Simcoe
2,200 sq. ft. (1,674 without the basement)
4 bedrooms; 2.5 bathrooms

The Simcoe comes as either three bedrooms with a loft or a four-bedroom home. The model is done showing the four-bedroom layout. As an end unit, it also benefits from windows on the exterior wall to add even more to the bright, airy feel.
“Darker finishes and bold patterns throughout the bathrooms and furnishings create a refined, stylish atmosphere, while thoughtful lighting and warm accents keep the home bright and inviting,” Sharp says.
Wynwood Corner
2,300 sq. ft. (1,829 without the basement)
6 bedrooms; 4 bathrooms

A townhome with six bedrooms is almost inconceivable, but Minto makes it work here because this home is a corner lot layout, meaning the front entrance is on the side of the home. That allows room for either a main-floor bedroom and three-piece bathroom or a den with powder room. For the model, the guest suite layout was chosen, but the bedroom is decorated as an office so that the space can “function as a home office now and easily transition into a comfortable guest suite in the future,” Sharp says.
Add the optional bedroom in the basement and the standard four bedrooms upstairs and this home offers a lot of flexibility.
Touring the models
The models are open seven days a week at varying times at Minto’s Kanata sales centre, 380 Huntmar Dr. See our Brookline, Abbott’s Run or Weavers Way development summaries for details.
