There are multiple developments on the go in north Kanata and Copperwood Estate is one of them, with homes being built by Uniform Urban Developments and Claridge Homes. The development will see about 600 homes, a mix of townhomes and singles, with some higher density units to follow.
There are currently five model homes to see, all by Uniform: two townhomes and three single-family homes (one is not decorated). Claridge is expected to open models soon. Here’s what you’ll see for now if you check out the Copperwood Estate model homes.
Uniform’s townhomes
The Driftwood
The Driftwood is one of Uniform’s largest townhomes at 2,379 square feet, plus an extra 498 square feet in the basement. It’s a three-bedroom end unit with a loft that can be turned into a fourth bedroom (the model shows the loft).
The main floor includes a walk-in pantry and living room fireplace, double windows in the stairwell add extra light, there’s a walk-in laundry upstairs and a corner window in one of the secondary bedrooms and the basement shows the optional full bathroom along with the rec room.

The Ferguson
The Ferguson is an interior townhome with 2,260 square feet, three bedrooms and a loft that can be turned into a fourth bedroom (the model shows the loft). It also comes with an additional 463 square feet of finished basement space.
Like the Driftwood, it includes a walk-in pantry, living room fireplace, corner window in one of the secondary bedrooms and a full laundry room. The model does not show the optional basement bathroom.

Uniform’s singles
The Ashby
The Ashby is a two-storey single on a 36-foot lot. It comes with four bedrooms and 2,369 square feet, plus an extra 430 square feet of finished basement space. It has an open-concept main floor with a mudroom that connects to the kitchen and a fireplace in the living room.
Upstairs, there are four generous bedrooms, including a primary suite that stretches across the back of the home, the main bathroom and a laundry room. One of the bedrooms is done as a moody home office. In the basement is a rec room and three-piece bathroom.

The Esmonde
The Esmonde is a larger two-storey single, with 2,986 square feet on a 42-foot lot (plus an extra 440 square feet in the basement) and four bedrooms. With a similar main-floor layout to the Ashby, the Esmonde adds a den and a walk-in pantry.
Upstairs, two of the secondary bedrooms have walk-in closets and the third includes an ensuite. Like the Ashby, the primary suite spans the width of the back of the home but unlike the Ashby, in the Esmonde there is a double-door entry. In the model, the basement is finished with a rec room, glassed-in home gym, wet bar and a full bathroom.

The Nobel
The Nobel is open for viewing but is not decorated, although the kitchen has been staged. This home is a two-storey single on a 42-foot lot with 2,840 square feet, plus 534 square feet of finished basement space. It has an open-concept main floor with a den tucked in behind the open mudroom.
There are four bedrooms upstairs, including one with an ensuite and one with slanted ceilings for architectural interest, the main bathroom and the laundry room. And in the model, the basement is finished with a rec room, fifth bedroom and full bathroom.
There is a fourth single in the model row — the Balsam — however it is currently set up as the sales centre with the whole main floor as office and open-concept display space. The rest of the home is not open.
